Application Requirements

The following documents are required in order to complete the application:

Completed Graduate Student Application for Admission. Students applying to the Master of Physician Assistant Studies, Master of Occupational Therapy, Doctor of Physical Therapy or Master of Athletic Training must apply using the Centralized Application System (CAS).
Application requirements are outlined by each program.
Copy of passport photo page (with identification information)
Copy of immigration documents if living in the U.S.
All official postsecondary transcripts, mark sheets, and degree conferrals. Original transcripts are required for non-English institutions.
Professional transcript evaluations are required for non-U.S. postsecondary academic transcripts. Professional transcript evaluations must be translated into English, show GPA calculation, and show course-by-course evaluation. (WES, TEC (formerly known as SpanTran), etc.)
Other professional credential evaluation may be required for non-U.S. postsecondary academic records.
Official Test of English Language test score - TOEFL or IELTS (Chatham code: 2081), Duolingo, iTEP, PTE or ACTFL. Scores must be received directly form the testing agency as we will not accept self-reported scores.
Official bank statement, signed bank letter or financial guarantee

Professional transcript evaluations and test of English language scores must be submitted by June 1 for fall and October 1 for spring admission.

Transcript Evaluation Policy

Professional credential evaluations are required for credentials from an educational system other than the United States. Applicants are required to have their transcripts evaluated by a foreign credential evaluation service such as NACES, ECE, WES, IEE, IERF, TEC (formerly known as SpanTran). Professional transcript evaluations must be translated into English, show GPA calculation, and show course-by-course evaluation. Any costs incurred for the professional evaluation are the responsibility of the applicant.

English Language Proficiency Requirements

Students who have graduated from a baccalaureate or master's program in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada (not including Quebec), Ireland, New Zealand, Australia or an English-speaking Caribbean island country are exempt from submitting English Language Proficiency requirements. All other international applicants must meet one of the following language proficiency requirements for regular admission to Chatham University. Letters of English instruction will not be accepted. English Language Proficiency test scores may not be more than 2 years old. Select programs require higher minimum language proficiency test scores.

Conditional Admission Based on Language Proficiency
Students with acceptable academic credentials who do not meet language proficiency requirements may be admitted under conditional admission through the English Language Program. All conditionally admitted students are required to take an English placement exam upon arrival and may be required to take supplemental courses.

Conditional admissions will not be considered for the following programs: MPAS, DPT, ELOTD, PPOTD, PsyD. English Language proficiency must be met for these programs. Chatham University reserves the right to require English Language proficiency test scores for any program upon request.

Proof of Finance

US government regulations require that all students prove the availability of sufficient funding to meet their educational expenses for the first year of study. Each student must consider how they will fund their studies for the entire length of their academic program. To demonstrate the source of your financial support, please scan your original documentation and upload to you application portal. You may need the original documentation when applying to the U.S. Consulate or Embassy for a student visa or to border officials when arriving in the U.S.

Each financial document must be in English. If you cannot supply the document in English, please supply a copy of the document in its original language and submit a professionally certified translation. Your financial documentation must demonstrate the following:

Date, which can be no more than 6 months in the past
Name of account holder
Account type
Currency

Acceptable financial documents:

Bank statement (checking or savings account)
Certified bank letter
Official letter from loan-issuing agency clearly indicating your loan is ‘approved’ and ‘readily available’
Letter from scholarship awarding agency, including your name as the award recipient, the amount of the award, duration of award, and terms of the award

Unacceptable financial documents:

Future employment opportunities
Value of personal property
Life insurance policies
Retirement accounts
Tax return documents
Paystubs or payroll statements

Application deadlines for our graduate schools vary by program. Click the link on the right to view the deadlines and application components for your graduate program of interest. In order to support successful application and enrollment into Chatham as an international student, we recommend the following application deadlines for international materials:

Fall Enrollment: May 1 priority and July 1 deadline
Spring Enrollment: October 15 priority and November 1 deadline
Summer Enrollment: March 1 priority deadline and April 1 deadline

All applicants to Chatham's graduate programs will use Chatham's application with the exception of of the entry-level Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant Studies, and Athletic Training programs. Types of Graduate Aid

Assistantships and Fellowships

A limited number of Graduate Assistantships and Fellowships are available to full-time graduate students. These positions provide students with the opportunity to conduct research with a faculty member, assist with teaching responsibilities, or participate in and organize departmental or campus projects. Each position requires 10-15 hours per week of work during the academic year. In addition to providing financial assistance, these positions offer students valuable hands-on experience, expanded learning opportunities, and professional skill development.

Alumni Discount Program

Chatham University is pleased to offer Chatham alumni holding an undergraduate degree from Chatham University a special 20% tuition reduction benefit for most graduate programs at Chatham University. Check to see if your program is eligible for this discount!

Corporate Discount Program

Chatham University offers a 20% tuition reduction grant for full time employees and members of professional organizations that are enrolling at the University, whose organization or employer is a member of the University's Corporate & Strategic Partner Program.
